Real estate is really taking a toll on the environment. I recently read in a local newspaper that builders are not leaving the natural canals too! As per municipal corporation, construction is not permitted within 50 feet on both the sides of nallas [natural water canals]. But the newspaper showed a photo of a building constructed on top of a nalla! The newspaper mentioned also that belize real estate is also on sale!

I've heard that pinoy 24 tv also showed something about the real estate clashing with the environmental balance.

Moreover, it's not just builders that are making money on the nallas, but so are the online real estate websites. They make money by adsense revenue sharing.

What do you say? Is all this good? I don't think it is, because every natural element has its special place in the whole cycle of the environment. We must not disturb any as far as possible. I mean, it's not necessary to construct buildings on nallas. There are other spaces that will make less impact on the environment comparatively.

A Great Initiative

Hindu Seva Samiti took a great initiative on the day of Holi to save the water of Khadakwasla dam- the dam which provides water to Pune. Few people of this samiti were sitting around the dam with some banners in their hands mentioning that on the occasion of Holi, no body will be allowed to enter the dam. The reason is well known as the chemical of colors would flow into the water and make it polluted.

Hats off to these people who are aware and take these steps to save the most precious thing on this Mother Earth- The Water. I am sharing few photos of them.

Please do watch this video!!! One day we will lose Tigers and will be just giving photographs to our coming generation. You know there are only 1411 left in India despite of the fact that there are 37 Tiger sanctuaries in India. 2009 was the worst year for tigers in India, with 86 deaths reported, only reported, how many are actually dead is not known...:(
As of now, we can only imagine of dinosaur and in future we will be just thinking of this beautiful creation of nature.

This is a very interesting photograph taken by me near a petrol pump. We are experiencing the rising fuel rates, which is shown by a meter. The bullock cart near by acts as a substitute for the rising fuel rates.It has its own enjoyment to sit on it.If the price continues to hike we will have to opt for it in near future. Then why not from today?? :)

Toady is World Environment Day! A single day when we think about our environment...:) Newspaper is full of articles related how to save Earth. Do we need a single day to save her? I was reading City Environmentalists, NGOs, Schools are coming forward in planting trees, harvesting rain water...etc.., happy to read that. But sometimes I think do they turn second time to see what has happened to their efforts? Did their plants grow into trees? May be not. Then what is the use of it? If we want to make a difference, make it completely otherwise not....

I have an idea. Can we do one thing? Let's plant one tree on our birthday and keep good care of it alike our child. If you want to gift anything.-gift a plant. Isn't it a better idea?

These are oxen used for farming..While on our way to Rajgarh, I saw two of them badly treated by his master. He uses them for farming and until they complete their work, they are given nothing to eat.As you can see, their mouths are covered so that they even can't eat, what they like to..:(

Just think, Who are we to decide their fate. Did they took birth just to live whole of their life like a slave? Good for nothing. They have immense strength but for what use? All is just because human have brains and animals go by the process given by God. They do what they are for here on the Earth.

How pity on them...Horses, Oxen, Fishes, Dogs, Donkeys, Rats...None of the creatures are left who are untouched by humans.

This, as you can see is Rhino and its kid. They are looking beautiful. But they are made of stones. Unfortunately, our next generations would only be able to see the stone/man made animals and not the "ORIGINAL" creation of god... And what will we give to our children...Only memories.....??

Ducks of Dudhni: Silvassa

The distance from Silvassa to Dudhni is almost 45 kms, filled with adventure. It has curves, mountains, slopes and lush green forests. We went there a month ago and found it quite peaceful. There was a dam for boating. We saw few ducks there. So, was it possible for me to not to click? Here is that photograph for you all...As you can see few of them are colored and few are white. Well, white ones were very quiet and peaceful, while colored were aggressive.

Finally, some of the aware citizens are coming forward to save the Mother Earth. Its not my, its not yours, but its OURS. It doesn't matter from which country we are, the thing that matters is the mother earth needs us. While going through a news channel, i found that they have started a mission called The Greenathon - starting from February 7, 2009 for a green tomorrow.

The Greenathon will help raise funds for TERI's Lighting a Billion Lives campaign that aims at solar powering villages across the country.

This might be a small effort towards saving Earth, but if we all together try, we can make see our children what we were not able to see in our past....

Aquarium: Limited Life

I have observed that aquariums have become a status symbol...People keep it to show-off. For many children or even elders, it is a mode of entertainment. But have we ever imagined, by keeping in aquarium, we are taking fishes' life. They are given a limited boundary, where they have to spend their whole life in an artificial environment. What if, we are kept in between fishes for the whole life and we eat only when we are fed. Just imagine, this cruelty against not only fishes but also other living beings is disgusting. Please stop this. Do not buy any living thing...they have life, what if they can't SPEAK...?

Sense of Recycling Paper

Many of the Indian Companies are getting aware for saving trees. They have the slogan"Go Green". Finally they have realized the value of nature and stepping forward to preserve it.

Paper waste is found maximum in offices in all sectors. Now, some companies like Infosys, Wipro, Satyam are taking efficient paper use norms like monitoring how many printouts an employee takes, printing on both sides etc. Yes Bank has started printing both sides and they have saved about three million pages since last year. They also look to disposing waste paper in eco-friendly manner. These companies have an in-house recycling facility or tie-ups with re-cyclers.

Do we know, recycling one tonne of printing paper saves more than two tonnes of wood? On an average, a company with 1000 employees generated 1000 kg of paper a year. Amongst them , high value paper like shredded papers etc goes to scrap dealers. Low quality papers like tissues, paper cups goes waste as most of them can't be recycled.

Please save paper and save trees!!

Circus of Life.....

We were roaming in the city to see the celebrations all around. While passing by a road, I saw a circus alongside the river. The name of the circus is "Rambo Circus". It was almost houseful and my heart again went in my 'Nature' mood. I felt bad about not only the people working in it but also animals. They are exploited like anything. Sometimes, they don't even earn enough money to buy food and clothes. People and animals there don't get food for days and also if they don't perform accordingly they are beaten with burning sticks. They are in pathetic condition. It is really sad to see that people are so helpless that they spend whole of their life making other laugh. I personally feel we should avoid watching them because if we demand then only they are willing to show us. If we don't go there, they will automatically stop this cruel business. Help Animals and Save Nature!!.

Pets: A Painful Act

Pets- Who don't like them? We keep them for our pleasure. But what about them? We do care for them more than our child...but do we think for a while, they are also living beings and they also need independence. They can't speak, but if we claim to be their best friends, can't we understand they need freedom- Freedom from this concrete forest. They want to live their own life, with their family, with their community. We sell and purchase them. Are they a commodity? The answer is "NO"? They are so faithful that they live with us for their whole life and WE, when bored, exchange them.

Birds are kept in a cage. A small cage contains hundreds of them. Just think, are they really made for it? They deserve flying and chirping with joy. And what we give is darkness, sadness. Think twice before you buy them . They have lives but not expression to say they need to go out.Help them by giving them their lives back. And also imagine yourself in this sort of cage, not of you size, for the whole life.

Desert National Parks are also in attraction. The Desert National parks are the excellent example of the ecosystem of the Thar desert and the diverse fauna. Sand Dunes form around 20 % of the national park.

Unfortunately,one day, due to growing mechanization, whole world will become desert.

Matheran: Forest on head

It was our marriage anniversary and my husband gave me a surprise by planning a trip to Matheran, a beautiful place with all greenery everywhere. Matheran means Forest on head (Mathe= Head; Raan= Forest). As usual we wake up early in the morning and packed our bags and were so excited to move on our bike. It was a journey of about 3 hours. But we biked leisurely and took our own time of 6 hours...:) We started at 5.30 in the morning. It was all dark everywhere and I was looking in the sky, sitting on the backside. I was thrilled to see a white spot moving in the sky. I asked my husband to look to it and then that white spot started turning yellow and that too very bright. It took almost 5 sec to see that white spot turning into a shooting star...Oh my god!!!!! Amazing!!!!! That was the most beautiful start of my morning....That was the most clear shooting star we both would have ever seen. Quickly, I asked for a wish and we again started.

At around 11.30, we reached there and parked our bike. It was around 5 kms of walk, since Matheran is a "No-Vehicle" zone. There are other modes of transportation i.e Horses and man-cart. We opted to walk. We were in no hurry as we wanted to admire the nature. At last, our hotel came and we rested for few minutes and after having lunch moved to see few places around. They were also at walking distance. Some of them were Echo-point, Honeymoon point, Mumbai Point,Malang Point, Louisa Point, Sunset-point, Charlote Lake and Myra Point.

It was fantastic experience to see sun-set from such a height. Next morning, we moved to our place, recollecting our sweet moments of life.....

A group of Bhopal based artists will be exhibiting their art-works at Art2day Gallery starting today. The team comprises of artists and sculptors. True saying....Either it may be Air Pollution,Sound pollution or Water pollution every bit of it is hazardous.

According to a study, pollution is changing world's weather by creating large clouds and intense storms. Researchers say there is definitely a link between human activity and the changing weather conditions. Increasing urban pollution can be blamed for intensified electricity and lightning in storms over various cities.

China has not only its name in increasing population but also in increasing pollution. Chinese pollution is the deadliest in the world. A World Health Organization (WHO) report estimates that diseases caused by air pollution kill 656,000 Chinese citizens each year.

WHO's air guidelines warn that pregnant women, the sick, and young children are especially susceptible to suffering severe effects from high pollution levels.

Animals are intelligent than humans

That might sound strange, but I have observed that animals are far better than human beings. They have common sense, they have mind, but they can't speak. If you train them to walk though a particular way, they will never go the other way. If you once show anger not to enter, they will never.

Among all living things, human is the most dangerous creature. God has gifted him with brain, but in vain. That is maximum used for thinking how to destroy himself and the earth. Can't he think he is trying to cut the branch on which he himself is sitting. We are in innumerable count and unmanageable, but animals, though in large number, know how to manage its species, how to remain balanced. They themselves maintain their population. The life-cycle set by god is incomparable but when humans use their brain by eating the portion of life cycle, the ecological balance is gone for sure.

I am not against human beings but against their behavior towards other creatures, may it be birds or animals. They should learn from those creatures who can't speak but know how to live.

Skyscrapers: Way to Hell

Yes! That's true. The apartment culture and competition amongst countries to create a history by building tallest skyscraper is a way to death. By living in apartment, we are living in bulk in a particular and creating concentration over the Earth. We suck all the resources from not only that area but nearby also. This is all because population is increasing recklessly. People don't think that by doing this they are themselves pushing to hell.

Even if 10% of literates show their awareness, the pain of the earth can be heard. Think yourself, 4 people are living in 1000 sq.feet. and on the other side, 2000 people are living in 1000 sq. feet. Difference is known. The pressure on not only land but also other natural resources increases.

Please think and control population growth.

Hubby's B'day

Yesterday we had a blast! Yes, it was my hubby's birthday...We had a great time. At exactly 12.00 in the night, my brother-in-law, gave both of us a surprise by bringing my favorite pineapple cake.

Bhavesh came from office post lunch. Then we approached camera dealer and bought his favorite SLR camera. We were so excited that we started clicking photos there only...:) I will remember this day in my life. Love you my life!!!

Tiger Conservation goes hi-tech

Project Tiger was launched by the Government of India in the year 1973 to save the endangered species of tiger in the country. There are about 28 tiger reserves in India. A step forward in this is hi-tech software used to keep track of all large groups of tigers in India. All tiger reserves will be linked through GIS-based software and camera trap techniques. Due to declining number of tigers, the recommendations were made by census authorities WII(Wild Life Institute of India) in the report presented by Project Tiger. According to a leading newspaper, the hi-tech conservation will also involve a program to monitor tiger populations through mark-recapture camera traps. As per a WII scientist, now there will be change in census procedure and it would be more comprehensive now.

This software will enable us to know the behavior, ecology, challenges, life-style, birth, survival rate and shrinking prey base of tigers.

Scientists believe that the canopy may contain half of the world's species. Over 500 mammals, 175 lizards and over 300 other reptiles species, and one third of the world's birds live in Amazonia. It is estimated that about 30 million insect types can be found here. Competition for survival is fierce.

Rainforests once covered 14% of the earth's land surface; now they cover a mere 6% and experts estimate that the last remaining rainforests could be consumed in less than 40 years.

One and one-half acres of rainforest are lost every second with tragic consequences for both developing and industrial countries.

Nearly half of the world's species of plants, animals and microorganisms will be destroyed or severely threatened over the next quarter century due to rainforest deforestation.

I was really surprised to see that in our building there are about 300 homes, of which approximately 50 women are pregnant. I thought if 50 women are reproducing in this small area what about the whole world? We, literate people, should atleast control birth rate and decide not to reproduce. I and my husband have mutually decided not to give birth to our child. It not only increases the responsibility but also we bring one more human being on earth to exploit nature. Have we ever thought what will happen if we concentrate ourselves on the small part of earth. Building huge apartment increases pressure, though it saves land but what if demand lot of resources from the small piece. It really worry me what will happen after ten years. The rate at which earth is getting warm, those days are not far when we will melt.

Together we can bring a drastic change by consuming reused products. The creativity is in you how to recycle them. Following are some of the tips how to green you recycling-

1. Stronger plastic bottles can be used to hold tools and nails etc in the shed. Simply cut 3 sides and leave one side longer and nail to the wall in the shed.

2. You can wash and reuse plastic and glass containers for storage and there are many things you can do to reduce your mountain of plastic bags.

3. Take clothes you don't want to your local opportunity shop or put them in a clothing bin. Rags are still useful for making handbags for shopping.

4 Donate unwanted paint to community groups, marae or schools. If you can't find someone to use it up, let the paint dry out and recycle the container.

5. Instead of buying countless bottles of water, try refilling the bottle and putting it in the fridge.

6.The best environmental choice is to repair, restore or adapt a product you already have.

7.You can also take your own bag to the shops - reuse plastic shopping bags from last time or buy some reusable cloth bags.

8. Buy products packaged in cardboard, paper, glass, cans or type 1 and 2 plastics - these can usually be recycled. Recyclable packaging means less rubbish.

9.Keep a reusable container in your drawer so that if you have leftovers from lunch, you can take them home and add them to the compost.

10.Reducing the amount of paper you use by sending documents electronically, using double-sided copying and printing or reusing one-sided copies for drafts.

Ecosystems everywhere are being fragmented, depleted and destroyed. As a result, the earth’s ability to sustain life is being seriously reduced, and the crisis point is rapidly approaching. Some experts suggest that we have no more than 30 years to turn things around.

Do you know,half the Earth's forests are gone, and growing demand for wood threatens those that remain. Growing demand for chinese food increased the demand for chop-stick and to fulfill that many forests are cut daily. What else to say, half of the forests that originally covered 48 percent of the Earth's land surface are gone. Only one-fifth of the Earth's original forests remain pristine and undisturbed.

Please avoid wood and wood related products. If using, then plant 10 trees in ratio of 1 tree cut.

When Nature Calls.......

This sunday me and my husband went for a ride to RAJGARH, place about 50 kms away from our place. Beauty, Nature, Peace all around. It was at high altitude so few people were able to approach it (I was not one of them). We went early in the morning at 5.30 and took 1 hour to reach there. Small village downhill, villagers unaware of the fact that they are in the lap of one of the beautiful places on earth. We saw couple of types of birds, insects and one of them was the web of unusul spider. We were so amazed to see it.....here is its photo, though truely its far more beautiful than in this pic. For about 45 minutes we were surprisingly looking to the web......WOW!!! I got so tired that we decided to return to our place and after seeing lot of sweet memories, we reached our home. I was so thrilled that I told this experience to everybody at home.

Today I was reading the newspaper and I found a contradictory article to my thought. The article was on ' No opposition between man and planet'. It goes like this that human being is not a threat to the environment, but rather its steward. It mentions that its often said that we have to defend the environment but the term 'defense' could mislead us to see conflict between environment and the human being. In this case, protection encompasses more than defense. It implies a positive vision of the human being, meaning that the person is not considered a nuisance or a threat to the nature, but as its steward. There is an established and inseparable alliance, in which the environment essentially conditions the human being's existence and development, while the latter perfects and ennobles the environment by his creative activity Archbishop Migliore considered the principle of the "responsibility to protect" in regard to the environment.

Help! Help! This is what i hear whenever and wherever i go. Seems my mother, my earth is calling for help. That was the day of Diwali-the festival of lights, noise and pollution.All were enjoying lighting crackers, I was sitting next to my window and watching them. The sky was filled with poisonous gas and noise was so much that I could not even hear phone ringing besides me. On one side, we say global warming is rising, but don't we realise why is it increasing? Its all because of us. I know it may sound boring but it is truth that the earth is burning every milisecond. Either we cook food or we ride a vehicle, or we consume electricity.
